Babies and cats
If you've just had a baby and own a cat, you might have encounter problems.
Our own experiences were quite traumatic.
We had two cats when our baby was born, and at first we had no problems.
I think the cats expected the baby would stay just a day or two!
After a week or two, one cat frequently urinated on anything we left lying around, especially our daughter's changing mat, bath towel and clothing.
We put up with it for a couple of months, but it became unbearable, so I took the Cat to the Vet.
She said that the Cat was stressed out and we could either buy some plug in pheromone devices or put the cat down. The pheromone treatment did not work, so in the end we had to make that decision that all pet owners dread.
Cats are sensitive creatures and they pick up on minute changes to their surroundings. They frequently urinate outside the litter box for several reasons:
- A dirty litter box
- Illness
- Marking territory
- Fear
If the trauma continues, as in the case of a dog or heartless child, the cat may become very timid and develop other behavior problems.
