Babies' Names 2007
Girls
Grace, who only joined the top five last year, is now the most popular name for girls.
Ruby has also increased in popularity and, with 4355 girls sharing the name, is the second choice for girls in 2007. Last year's most popular girls' name, Olivia, is third.
Emily has risen one place to fourth and Jessica has fallen two places to fifth.
Evie has climbed 46 places in the last five years, making it the 15th most popular choice for girls in 2007.
Not quite a girl for all seasons - Summer (with 864 registrations) and Autumn (with 55 registrations) are the seasonal names of choice for girls.
No girls were named Spring or Winter in 2006. Floral names continue to blossom with Lily, Daisy and Poppy all in the top thirty.
Boys
Once again, there is no change at the top, with Jack the number one boys' name. Thomas also retains his second place slot with 5803 boys sharing the name in 2007.
The only movement in the top five is the exchange of places between Joshua and Oliver to third and fourth respectively, with Harry remaining fifth.
Jayden, which is now the 32nd most popular boys' name, has been climbing steadily since its appearance in the top 100 in 2004.
Royal Influence
This year marks the 60th wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, but how popular have their names been over this time?
Elizabeth has maintained a top 50 spot from the 1940s through to 2007 when 1268 girls shared the 36th most popular girls' name.
Philip was at its most popular as a boys' name during the 1950s. However, it regularly appeared in the top 100 until the end of the 20th century.
In 2007, only 133 boys were named Philip, making it the 270th choice.
Heir to the throne, Prince Charles, has shared a consistently popular name throughout his lifetime with regular top 100 appearances.
Although currently at number 52, the popularity of Charles as a boys' name has been falling gradually since 2002.
The Royal grandchildren have the most popular names it would seem, with William, currently 8th, and Harry 5th, both featuring in the top ten for the past three years.
Musical Delights
Leona has almost tripled in popularity over the past twelve months, possibly due to X-Factor winner Leona Lewis. In 2007, 238 babies were given the name.
Former Hear 'say member, and 2006 celebrity jungle runner-up, Myleene Klass, named her daughter Ava earlier this year.
This could explain Ava moving 23 places up the girls' rankings in the last year, making it the 41st choice for girls in 2007.
In 2007, Alfie made it into the top ten for the first time in recent years. This may have been influenced by the hit single Lily Allen wrote about her brother, Alfie.
